Featured Artist

When James and Patrick created LNF, they wanted the foundation to have a strong link to the art world.  In this section, they'll be highlighting some of the talented artists that are giving back to their communities with their art.

Our Featured Artist is Guy Stanley Philoche.

I met Guy back in 2005 though a friend of mine.  I actually took this photo on the day we met, strange coincidence that it was.   We've kept in touch throughout the years.  When I got in touch with him about the Foundation and what we were doing, Guy was there to help with anything that he could.

In addition to being a amazing visual artist, Guy has been instrumental in helping us organize our first, "Art for the Cause" Benefit on May 5th in New York.

Here are some photos of Guy with his art...

Guy's hard work and dedication to the foundation has earned him a seat on the Board of Directors for The Leukemia Needs Foundation, where he puts his unique skill set to work for the benefit of the patients we're trying to help.

Bio:
Guy Stanley Philoche's Haitian background causes Jean-Michel Basquiat to
come to mind, yet his art is more reflective of Mark Rothko's raging passion
and Barnett Newman's minimalist space. Philoche was born in Port-Au-Prince,
Haiti and at the age of three he immigrated to Connecticut with his parents.
At this early age he developed an aptitude to paint. After attending Yale
University and receiving a Master of Fine Arts, Philoche was scouted by an
independent art dealer and his works were purchased by white gloved society
members and celebrities such as George Clooney and Uma Thurman. Now an
independent artist, Philoche has been courted by the renowned Marlborough
Gallery and his collections touted by a number of corporate collectors such
as Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley for example and sold at a number of
Christies Auctions.

Philoche creates luscious and resonant fields of paint.  His current work,
"Untitled Series" focuses on utilizing a simple yet strict structure to
create a sense of balance and symmetry.  The basic composition relies on
this grid of sorts to formally contain these ethereal, ephemeral worlds.  These
visual partitions create a window-like composition out of the picture plane,
allowing the viewer to peer into the decadent haze of Philoche's strokes.
His artwork has been referred to as beautiful organization of chaos.
Philoche hopes that the viewer takes from these works an understanding of
his view of the simplicity of elegance and beauty.
